The PowerOn Community Tech Grant was designed to meet the tech needs of our PowerOn Partner Centers. With a deeper understanding of the critical reliance on technology for center operations and client resources, this grant provides the technology necessary to support community centers and their staff in their work serving the LGBTQ+ community.
Apply to receive up to ten devices for in-center or organization staff use. Eligible devices for this grant include:
Laptops
Cell phones
Tablets
Desktop computers
Printers

The purpose of the Community Tech Grant is to provide technology that can be used in a center’s physical space, by staff members working remotely or in the field, and to support day-to-day center operations. Technology for client personal use will now be available through the PowerOn Individual Tech Grant.
The grant application period will run from March 13, 2024 to April 12th, 2024. Awards will be announced within a month of applications closing. Granted technology will be shipped around one month after awards are announced.

PowerOn Grant Application FAQs
WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?
To be eligible for this grant, organizations must:

be a 501(c)(3) organization

be based in the United States or U.S. territories

primarily serve members of the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S. or territories
-
be in good standing with PowerOn (if your center has received a grant before)
WHAT DEVICES ARE PROVIDED THROUGH THIS GRANT?
This grant is limited to laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktop computers, and printers. Grants are limited to ten (10) devices total. PowerOn grants devices themselves and not the funds to purchase devices. No accessories or supplies will be provided beyond what comes with the device (i.e. device cases, printer ink, headphones).
WHAT DEVICES CAN I EXPECT?
Usual brands include Lenovo, HP, Brother, and Blu but vary depending on availability. We are not able to accept requests for particular brands. All devices are sufficient to meet the basic computing and communication needs of the recipients and include WiFi capability and cameras.
ARE SERVICE PLANS OR SOFTWARE INCLUDED?
No, PowerOn does not currently provide service (cell phone plans, data plans, broadband plans, etc.) for granted devices. Devices come with an operating system installed but no other software is included (such as Microsoft Office).
WHAT REPORTING IS REQUIRED FOR THIS GRANT?
All grant recipients are required to submit quarterly impact reports of how the granted technology has supported the receiving organization and community. These reports are required for one year after the grant has been distributed (May 2024-April 2025).
